Azadism isn’t just an economic theory that can only be used to inform constitutions of future states. It can be used right now! Entrepreneurs are the backbone of the healthy free and fair markets that Azadism promotes. On top of this a wealthy Sikh population means more of us are in good positions to help others less fortunate. By recognising the value in reinvesting in ourselves we can support circulation of wealth within Sikh communities around the world.
Business directories helps people identify what sorts of goods and services are available. A Sikh version of this aims to do the same but for Sikh-owned businesses.
A dollar circulates 10 times within the Jewish community before it exits. What this does is allow Jews to reinvest in themselves first and help promote opportunities for members of their community to start businesses, grow them and support existing ones.
Sikhs around the world are an incredibly wealthy community. However, alongside our extensive charity work that has become so recognised in the world, we should also give focus in consolidating this wealth so we can continue to expand our efforts further. More wealthy Sikhs means more people in better positions to help others, both in and out of the community.
Sikh entrepreneurs (especially youth) should also be given greater confidence is setting up new businesses that has the attention and backing of the Sangat. The more Sikh owned businesses there are, the more opportunities there will be for companies to be established on Sikh values. This also allows more Sikhs to be confident in working for themselves rather than others if they so desire.
Azadism encourages Sikhs to become a strong, self-reliant ecosystem that others can fall on in times of hardship. This also ensures that Sikhs do not need to be reliant on others and we can support ourselves.
This also hopes to promote higher levels of cooperation amongst our community in professional environments so that these attitudes can be employed to solve Sikh issues in more productive and systematic ways.
Lastly, having a SBD allows us to identify about what goods and services are already available in our community. For example, if you wanted to visit Leicester, you could quickly and easily look up all the Sikh food places that are compatible with your diet.
The directory itself is made up a table. On the right hand side, you can click the filter icon to narrow down what exactly you are looking for and where.
The map view gives you an idea of where exactly the business is located (if it has a physical premise). Clicking on the marker displays the name, category and link to their website or social media.
If you would like to submit a business, please use the form. Make sure details are correct and in the right format!
Currently this is an early implementation of the SBD project. There is ample room for improvement and ways to support this effort. If you would like to get involved, please get in touch! Even if it is just to help update the records. Especially if you are young, Azadism will give you a reference for your CV.
